I fell in love with yoga about 20 years ago and have not looked back. Yoga has benefited me in so many ways over the years of practicing, it helps me to calm down, to center myself in a state of peace and tranquility. I love passing this on to the people I work with.
About 6 years ago, I started taking yoga into a new direction when I began working with private clients who had chronic heath problems and injuries. So working out of Carla’s studios is allowing me to take this work further. I did my 1st Teacher Training in 2012 at The Sharla in Cape Town, and in 2016 my 500h teachers training at Wellness Connection. I teach in a few studios around Cape Town. My teaching style largely focuses on helping students find proper alignment for their work body’s, helping them moving deeper into a postures building strength and flexibility.
I teach yin yoga, recovery and Vinyasa, with clear easy to follow instruction. The recovery work is centered around yogic principles, including guided breathing, meditation, along with yoga postures which have been specifically adapted to help assist with physical recovery. I believe it is always important to meet students where they are at, and work together to move forward. Yoga can seep into your bones, your heart, and your soul over time and give you a whole new outlook on life physically and mentally. The expression “Namaste.” said at the end of yoga class, basically means, “I bow to the divine in you.”
The idea is that the goodness that is in me, is also within you. Rather than seeing each other’s flaws, we should strive to find the connecting thread of goodness and of humanity that ties all of us together. I believe that yoga can truly help people find time to be in the present and give hope for the future.
